Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The exam features 65 scenario, architecture, and deployment questions over 115 minutes. Cost is $375 USD with a passing threshold of 750/1000 (75%). SnowPro Core is a required prerequisite.
Domains include: (1) Native App Framework Architecture (~25%), (2) Application Packages and Manifests (~25%), (3) Consumer Security and Telemetry (~25%), and (4) Marketplace Distribution and Monetization (~25%).
The Native App Framework allows software providers to package application logic (stored procedures, UDFs, Streamlit interfaces, container services) into an application package and distribute it to consumers to run securely inside the consumer's Snowflake account.
The provider's code logic (stored procedures, UDF definitions, proprietary algorithms) is hidden inside an encrypted, sandboxed Application object that consumers can execute but cannot inspect, reverse-engineer, or export.
Consumer data stays entirely inside the consumer's Snowflake account. The native application executes within the consumer's security boundary and cannot exfiltrate data to the provider without explicit consumer permission.
The `manifest.yml` file is the entry point that defines the application version, setup scripts, required privilege permissions (e.g. access to consumer tables), and configuration hooks.
The setup script runs when the consumer installs or upgrades the application. It creates application schemas, creates secure views, registers stored procedures, and builds the Streamlit UI.
An Application Package is a container created by the provider that holds versioned application files, setup scripts, manifests, and shared data objects prior to distribution.
Native Apps declare references in `manifest.yml`. When installed, consumers use the UI or SQL (`GRANT REFERENCE ...`) to explicitly bind specific consumer tables or warehouses to the application.
Snowflake Marketplace supports Usage-Based billing (billing per query or active user), Subscription billing (monthly/annual fixed fees), and Free Trial offerings managed by Snowflake Billing.
The credential is valid for two years from the date earned.
This specialty certifies Data App Architects, Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Engineers, and Enterprise Monetization Specialists earning average US salaries between $150,000 and $205,000+.
